šŸ•Š On March 20, 2026, the closing meeting of the UN Women project "Women Acting for Peace and Local Community Empowerment" was held. At the event, women living in IDP settlements and villages along the dividing line—including community workers, members of self-help groups, and representatives of the "Network of Women and Youth Ambassadors for Peace"—presented their achievements and accumulated experience.

šŸ™Œ With financial support from the UK Government, UN Women has been actively working since 2019 to implement the "Women, Peace, and Security" agenda at the local level and empower conflict-affected women. The initiative is implemented in close cooperation with partner organizations: the IDP Women Association "Consent", the Women's Information Center (WIC), and the Charity Humanitarian Women's Fund "Sukhumi".

šŸ¤ At the meeting, special attention was paid to the project's final phase for 2025–2026: during this period, 37 community initiatives were selected and implemented as part of social mobilization, based on needs research conducted in 15 target municipalities. These projects covered both socio-economic support for the population and the improvement of critical infrastructure.

šŸ•Š One of the most important results of the project is the strengthening of the "Network of Women and Youth Ambassadors for Peace"—forming its organizational structure and defining its strategic directions. Today, this network represents a tool for amplifying the local community's voice in the decision-making process.

šŸ‘ The participants of the event positively assessed the training and capacity-building programs conducted within the project. According to them, these activities significantly contributed not only to raising their knowledge and skills but also increased their agency, self-confidence, and degree of independence.
