Changes in the Election Code

On August 5, 2024, within the framework of the project supported by the UN Women, the Association "Consent" held a training on the topic: "Changes in the Election Code: Introduction of Electronic Technologies in Georgia". Women from Gardabani, Mtskheti and Dusheti municipalities attended the training.

The purpose of the training was to provide voters with information about the changes made in the Election Code, introduce them to the new electronic technologies in this direction, and simulate the voting process. During the training, trainer Natia Tsiptauri - a member of the Mtskheti Election Commission tackled such topics as:

• Technological devices used in the election process;

• Voter verification;

• Electronic vote counting;

• Transmission of preliminary data on voter activity;

• Counting of electronic results;

• Positive aspects of using electronic devices.

The participants were particularly active during the simulation of the voting process, throughout which the trainer explained how they should record their choice on the ballot and then how to place it in the vote counting machine in a confidential manner. This training received a great positive feedback from the participants.

A series of similar trainings is also planned for the municipalities of Gori, Kaspi, Kareli, Zugdidi and Oni.

The training was held within the framework of the project "Women and youth for the implementation of the WPS agenda", which is implemented by a coalition of three non-governmental organizations: IDP Women's Association "Consent", Women's Information Center and Women's Fund "Sukhumi". The project is financially supported by the UK Government's Conflict Stability and Security Fund.
