On September 15-16, 2023, a Civil Forum was held in The Courtyard by Marriott Tbilisi Hotel on “increasing access to medical and social services for the elderly”. The Forum was dedicated to the problems and challenges encountered by the representatives of the older generation living in Dmanisi, Gori Municipalities and Daba Kazreti in terms of access to primary health care and social services. The event took place within the framework of the project “House of Support - Services for Dignified Life of the Elderly in Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, financed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and implemented in Georgia by Hilfswerk International and IDPWA “Consent” together with the Georgian Association of Social Workers and the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia.
In Summer 2021, in Dmanisi and Gori Municipalities a “House of Support” was created, which provides house care professional services to the representatives of the older generation for free within the project. Apart from that, Centers for Healthy Aging are functioning in the mentioned regions and Kazreti.
The aim of the forum was to put the challenges faced by the elderly on the agenda of different levels of society and public institutions. Experts from various fields, representatives of state agencies, non-governmental organizations and the civil sector took part in the event.
In the framework of the “Round Table”, the participants discussed the problems faced by the older generation and collaboratively developed recommendations and solutions to them.
